Getting defensive — behind the wheel

Safe driving is simple. Isn’t it? You’re a good driver. Aren’t you?

It’s easy to assume that we’re careful, focused and safe drivers, but everyone stands to benefit from a refresher course in driver’s ed — with a little extra emphasis on driving defensively in the age of the distracted driver.

You can do just that Dec. 15 when the Office of Regulatory Compliance and Safety at Mississippi State offers the National Safety Council’s Defensive Driving Course at no charge to MSU employees, including student workers. The session runs from 1-5 p.m. in Room 119 at the Life Sciences and Biotechnology Institute, and is limited to 15 participants.

After participating in the one-day session, attendees will receive a nationally recognized certification from the National Safety Council. The NSC's certifications are accepted in more states than any other driver improvement or driver education program for insurance discounts.

For questions or additional information about the course, contact MSU Safety Officer Alicia Musselwhite.
