From First Impressions to Lasting Impressions Seminar

Thanks to everyone from communities throughout the state who participated in last week's seminar. Teams of folks learned about basic principles of design, explored possibilities to consider in their communities, learned ways to increase volunteer participation in community projects and participated in activities designed to help bring ideas to reality.

We also appreciate David Preziosi from Mississippi Heritage Trust, Amber Murphree with Columbus Main Street (representing Mississippi Main Street Association) and Sonny Thomas with Mississippi Development Authority for briefing attendees on the services of their respective organizations.

It's our goal that participants will take this knowlege and apply it to improvement projects that will enhance their community development efforts. What good is knowledge if it isn't shared, applied and used?

We can't simply wait for good things to happen. Community improvement happens with a vision that is guided through careful planning and implementation that must be enforced by appropriate policies.

Communities that have a "can do" spirit and then choose to leverage external resources through public/private partnerships position themselves to achieve results that everyone can be proud of.

We thank you for your time and commitment to the betterment of your communities.
